Sellers, time to make your home anonymous

If there are new homes or neighborhoods in your area go visit them.The style and the size of the homes aren’t important. What you are going to find are some wonderfully (but sparsely) furnished homes that anyone could live in -- with the emphasis on "anyone." They are anonymous. There may be a baseball glove and bat in the boy's room, but notice there aren’t any family photos on the walls.

These homes have "personality" - but no person.

Keep in mind, a lot of people have a hard time overlooking your stuff and visualizing their family in your home.This is the reason you want to make your home "anonymous".You want buyers to view it as their potential home. When a potential homebuyer sees your family photos, trophies, collections, knick- knacks and wedding pictures hanging on the wall, it puts your own brand on the home and momentarily shatters their illusions about living in the house themselves.

De-clutter, get boxes and pack up the family photos, model airplanes, beer can collections, posters, and souvenirs. Don’t stack them up in the garage, rent a storage area for a few months and put everything you can live without in the storage unit.

Clean out all of your home’s closets.Every potential buyer wants a big closet, probably bigger than the ones you have.The best way to make your closets look appealing is to remove as much as possible and put it in storage also.Just keep the current season’s clothes in your closet and pack up the rest, the same goes for the shoes.This will go a long way in helping your home sell.
