If there are new homes or neighborhoods in your area go visit them.The style and the size of the homes aren’t important. What you are going to find are some wonderfully (but sparsely) furnished homes that anyone could live in -- with the emphasis on "anyone." They are anonymous. There may be a baseball glove and bat in the boy's room, but notice there aren’t any family photos on the walls.
These homes have "personality" - but no person. Keep in mind, a lot of people have a hard time overlooking your stuff and visualizing their family in your home.This is the reason you want to make your home "anonymous".You want buyers to view it as their potential home. De-clutter, get boxes and pack up the family photos, model airplanes, beer can collections, posters, and souvenirs.
